Ouroboric Idiocy

Ouroboric Idiocy

Last night I crafted the descriptive phrase 'ouroboric idiocy'.

It describes a particular type of thinking untouched by inputs from intelligent information sources so it loops in perpetual moronic motion.

In brief interludes from watching breaking news reporting Elon Musk going all Clockwork Orange deep in the US government database with his 'mom's basement' hackers, I had the misfortune to spot clips of gleeful US state legislatures going for gold trying to deny women healthcare access, criminalise them and control their bodies because they could biologically be childbearers.

Listening to their 'arguments' at any length one starts to feel sucked into a mental cartoon loop of two shrivelled brain cells with hammers taking turns hitting each other.

It most often feels like these Christo-fascist extremists are so stupid they don't realise how stupid they are.

So here we are in the era of Dunning-Kruger leadership; primarily the most venal, devious white men, the odd white woman and sometimes complicit minorities, installed into positions of power through a range of careful manipulation and bankrolling because they will happily follow a script written by those doing the manipulating and bankrolling. Their chances of being picked for this honour seem to increase if they have a history of sexual predation or financial impropriety.

Reducing the level of discourse to lies and nonsense, and political representation to token is, of course, the point.

Dehumanising public spending by calling it waste not services. Dehumanising the dedicated work of public servants calling it over staffing not underspending. Talking about abstract numbers not people.

Unfortunately using such spurious arguments to do serious things like make laws, and using raw power to override research, evidence and common sense to legitimise radical ideological positions through legal enforcement has become normal.

It's all designed to melt our brains, to insult our intelligence, to offend our sensibilities, to create so much bad or confusing information swirling round it feels overwhelming, they want us to feel powerless.

We empower ourselves with good information and by creating networks that share good information from credible sources widely. We empower ourselves by talking with our neighbours and building community.

Subscribe, support and share the work of the new growing independent pro-democracy media who are investigating and breaking down vital information that those seeking to aggregate power want you to miss.

Join communities and networks and help share information and, where possible, coordinate.

We don't have a choice about the political power grab we are experiencing - we have a lot of power in how we respond.

When people work together and stay true to values, anchoring and reinforcing the things power trippers want to rip away, like human rights and a right to belong and the woven social and structural frameworks that enable them, we take our power back.

By the way, self care is activism too. The onslaught is designed to exhaust us. If you just need a break take it.

We are strong together.

Note: The original title of this piece was Eat shit and die. But even though it amused me, I'm angry, and my blog is my way of talking about the things I'm angry about, it was confrontational, and we're getting trolled enough by life so on second thoughts I changed it. Peace out.
